Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join The University of Vermont Health Network as part of the Pre/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team. As an RN in this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients throughout their perioperative journey, ensuring their well-being and comfort before, during, and after procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver patient care using the nursing process.
• Coordinate perioperative care for patients undergoing surgical/invasive procedures.
• Provide pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure monitoring, and post-procedure critical evaluation.
• Offer effective pain management and patient/family education.
• Become proficient in two of the three Perioperative Services areas.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State.
• Physical/pre-placement screening requirements met.
• Minimum two years of med/surg nursing experience, Critical Care experience preferred.
• ACLS required, PALS within 12 months.
• Excellent customer service, communication skills, and ability to learn new skills.
• Competent in IV therapy and venipuncture.
